Where Did October Go?!

Well what a whirlwind of a month!  I got married, spent a beautiful week in Maine, went to a bike festival and ran two races. When I started this post, I planned to just recap the entire month but it became way too long and picture heavy, so I decided to break them up into individual posts.

First up: Just Married!

Yep, October 7th Tyler and I had a quiet little ceremony at Jordan Pond inside Acadia National Park.  It was exactly what we wanted-something small, simple and outdoors-preferably in a National Park.  After going to Bar Harbor/Acadia in 2013 for a race, I knew that Acadia was the front runner for a wedding location.  Then, after getting engaged and seeing that my ring actually had two of the mountains on it, I knew it had to be there.

Our day started out with a run along the harbor followed by coffee, a hair appointment and making my bouquet back at the B&B. Before we knew it, the photographer had arrived and it was go time!

We took pictures at various places in the park and I wore my heels for a total of maybe three of them (I really don’t like wearing heels, but I promised my mom I would wear appropriate shoes in some of the pictures).  It was nice and warm that day, so going barefoot was not biggie.

Our photographer, Andree Kehn was awesome.  She knew exactly what we wanted and it felt like we were hanging out with an old friend just snapping photos. I highly recommend her as a wedding photographer if you are getting married anywhere in Maine.

The ceremony was short and sweet.  We had a total of two guests, a couple of friends that live in the area (they served as our witnesses).  It was exactly what we had imagined, just a low key, no fuss day filled with love!  After the ceremony we took a few more fun pictures-this time I got to put on my Hokas 🙂

After we finished up with Andree, we had lunch at the Jordan Pond House (best popovers ever!) then took some pictures on top of Cadillac Mountain then headed back to the B&B to relax before dinner.

Dinner and cake were later that evening at Fathom. Our cake was a gingerbread with a swiss buttercream topped with blackberries, crystalzied ginger and drizzled with caramel made by a local bakery A Slice of Eden. It was heavenly. We ended up with a lot of leftover cake, so we treated the other guests at the inn with the leftovers.

The day couldn’t have been more perfect!
