Last week I started my new training plan and it went great! I was definitely lacking on the overall strength training but I did manage to get some core work in, and more importantly, I had no IT band issues.
Monday-strength + stretch.
Tuesday-run. I ran 2.5 miles around my neighborhood in the fog before it got too hot to be outside. Thankfully, looking ahead at the future forecast it looks like those days are close to being behind us!
Wednesday-XT. I did some yoga and stretching after work.
Friday-run. Two miles around my neighborhood.
Saturday-We headed to Richmond to run a few errands and it ended up taking most of the day. Plus, we stopped to have some pie. Yum.
I did hit the cycle trainer for roughly 15 minutes before calling it quits, fearing I would die from boredom. I got off and did some core work.
Sunday-run. My third **painfree** run of the week. Yay! Three miles at the York Riverfront on the most beautiful late summer day.
How I’m feeling: In regards to running, in a word: GOOD! Now that I’m able to focus on good form and not worried about “omg when is my IT band going to explode” running has been fun. I’m running by feel and not looking at my pace until after the run. Surprisingly, I’m running faster now that I’m not caring so much about pace–I’m regularly down in the 9:30s/mile! I obviously want to get faster, but I just need to keep reminding myself that it takes time and that I didn’t just start running at a sub-8 minute mile pace, I worked for it.
